If you haven’t gotten a chance to look at the new 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, it would be worth your while. Rescuers are going to want to pay attention to a couple of items of interest.
First, there is NO exterior badging on the vehicle to indicate that it is a hybrid – not on the sides, nor on the trunk. Another point for rescuers is that this vehicle has laminated front row side windows. The rear side windows are still tempered glass.
This vehicle also has hard-to-find locations for just about everything a rescuer needs to find to properly stabilize the vehicle. The push button to start/stop the vehicle is located at the top of the transmission control buttons to the left of the if the radio and audio controls. The parking brake is a really small switch on the underside of the dashboard. And you’ll find the 12-volt battery in the trunk.
The emergency disconnect for the high voltage system is found behind the driver’s side rear seat.
And don’t forget the multiple airbags… Remember rescuers need to know what is inside!
