I was spending some time just wandering around the internet today and found this quote…
“Man never made any material as resilient as the human spirit.” (Bernard Williams)
This quote really reminded me about the job we do as rescuers.
We are constantly told about the challenges of new vehicle technology that we have to overcome. We are told about high strength steels that can’t be cut, dangerous areas where we can’t push against, and the “possibility of being electrocuted by a hybrid car” (sorry, just had to throw that one in there…).
But you know what? We never just say the hell with it and send a victim to the junkyard with a car… We work through the challenges. We overcome the obstacles. It is our spirit as rescuers that allows us to rise to the occasion.
Training is an important part of all of this, as well as remembering our ultimate goal is providing a patient-oriented rescue…
Just my thoughts for the day…
